Peace, Sis! Yes, there is a group in Dallas, I've been to their website. And though Dallas is a lovely place, I live in Fort Worth. It's disheartening to me to travel 30 miles in one direction to be apart of an active queer community. Not that I'm unwilling to do it... but to find a static group closer to home, would be sublime! Any suggestions?

That is very interesting, Mary. I don't feel as if I've fully explored all the possibilities of what turns me on, but I, too love a masculine-centered woman. I'm a visual person and it's something about the posture of a "stud," the way she carries herself, in general, that makes me... whew!!! I'm all bothered thinking about it. Thanks for sharing!

It is not uncommon for a bisexual person to have a gender preference. For me it is so confusing because I neither label myself or allow others to. I am who I am without a label. I am more comfortable with a masculine female. I love the look, the confidence, the tendency to be more monogomous, the nurturing person because she understands "Woman." On the other hand society says that " man and woman" is the norm. But I have found this to not be so. He (male) has only one thing that she doesn't have. So yes I could be with a male but yet to find one that come close to the qualities of a "real stud."

@Estraven - thank you for the resources. BiNet USA is awesome! And I am definitely going to comb through Facebook for like-minded people. The problem is, for me at least, being social outside of the Internet. Sure there are resources and communities online, but I haven't been able to connect, in person, with people like myself. As I told our good friend Brklyn Paul, I am going to get out of my house and make more of an effort to find people... if not, phase two is going to be starting my own group, as you suggested! Hey, thanks for replying.

Brklyn Paul! thanks for replying to my odd little post... which is very fitting since I'm an odd little person. You have inspired me. I suppose I have been under a rock, as rarely do I venture out from my immediate community, so meeting ANYONE is slim to none. But... I'm going to adopt your advice as my mantra, starting with no. 1. I declare: I am going to find a LGBT center in Fort Worth/Dallas and join a group for bisexual peoples (if available). The main thing is, Paul...if the bisexuals haven't come to me... I'm going to them!

Hey, R... I feel very similarly to you. While I enjoy the differences between the genders, I don't use that as the determining factor when choosing a partner. I like people... and if you're a person, then I'll date you, too!

There is a rapidly building bi community, and you are welcome to join us. Check the BiNET USA groups page to see if there is an actual rl group near you. As Paul says, there are lots of bi groups on Facebook.

If there is no bi group near you, you can go to a bi conference like the BECAUSE conference or Transcending Boundaries conference to meet real live bi people. Or you could get ambitious and follow the advice on the Bisexual Resource Center page and start one yourself :)

Odd little posting to be sure.

There are three good ways to find bisexuals.. 1) go a a meeting at your local LGBT Center (hoping you have one on campus or in town) and sit in on the local discussion group. 2) get yourself to a playground... a sexy playground that is.. whether it's a fetlife fete or a gay bar, how bout the local cruisy park? 3) post a blog about invisibility on the web and see who shows up

I help run a discussion and social group in NYC.. if you're interested, I invite you to attend or to use our posted topics for a group in your area.. you'll be surprised who shows up.

There are also a number of very active Bi Facebook groups.. (Bi Activists, Bi's against BiPhobia, BiNet USA, etc) join them and post your questions here.

NYC is representin'!!!

Funny you should ask. I was asked that very same question at a PFLAG parent's meeting a month ago and I said, 'I like people, not genders.' That's the short version. It did not occur to me until I started dating a gq (genderqueer) male pronoun preferring lesbian that for me all those other categories meant nothing. If you're human and I'm into you, I'll date you. That's what bisexual means to me.
